Here is my review of the Hilleberg Jannu 2 person backpacking tent. This is a true 4 season tent capable of withstanding gale force winds. Never has camping in the wind been so comfortable.
The Hilleberg Jannu has a very distinctive design that uses 3 poles and one long vestibule. Pitched into wind, this 2 person tent is extremely strong.
It's perfect for winter wild camping high up in the mountains. The strength of the tent makes it ideal for heavy snow falls and just about any foul weather too.
I love the strength, the internal space, the main vent and the ease of pitching.
The vestibule is a let down for me and it could do with a rear vent too. Unfortunately, the retail price is almost £1500 for 2026. I was lucky to find this second hand off eBay with 10mm poles and the footprint for just over £700.
In summary, it's a very cleverly designed, protective palace for one. Perfect for winter camping and severely windy conditions.
