From its introduction in Gen 3, the Flygon line has always seemed more than meets the eye. I have heard this evolution line jokingly described as having four types, but I think there is definitely something to the note- this is an extremely cool Pokemon. It's not that the Ground and Dragon types don't make sense at all, it's just that there is a big Bug and even Flying part of the visual equation that isn't happening in the mechanics. What was so striking to me that I ultimately wanted to talk about it though was seeing that Flygon has seemingly gotten more "bug" as the generations have gone. Movepools and trainer associations have further blurred the lines on the Pokemon's identity and it's more bug than ever! And a Pokemon being able to have a relatively flexible identity like this is an extremely cool thing. Even cooler than mudkip! This one's for all the Illumise, Magikarp, and Sceptile fans out there.
