pokemon heartgold and pokemon soulsilver really and truly had it all. I was able to trade Jasmine for the steelix when I originally played but didn't know about Brock and Surge until looking into it more, the world feels so lived in. Getting to see and interact with gym leaders in the corners of these games are why they're fondly remembered. Big shout out to Volty the French Pikachu
