The newest Chase Bliss Audio release, the Mood Mk II, came in this week and there's no better way to kick off the weekend with a cup of coffee and some meandering ambient exploration.
I've got a lot planned for this incredible little unit, but I wanted to give a candid and honest look at what sounds are possible in your first half-hour with the Mood Mk II. With their field guide handy here's my immediate first impression and exploration of this incredible stereo reimagining of my favorite Chase Bliss pedal.
I've long theorized that a stereo Mood would be my absolute favorite ambient tool, and while I have yet to get the chance to work it into the full workflow, I'm absolutely loving everything I've heard so far.
The ability to control tone on the wet effects, dry loop pass through and a number of the other quality of life functionalities on the secret menu of parameters takes what was already one of my favorite ambient tools and turns it into an incredibly powerful multitool that can be tossed just about anywhere in the chain without having to worry about filtering/shaping later in the chain.
In addition to the Mood Mk II, you’re hearing the Benson preamp for some tone shaping and overall grit, a couple of moments of the Bigsky on the Cloud algorithm to explore what slip and delay mode sound like into reverb and the Generation Loss Mk II for some shaping and additional grit and texture for those low fidelity pads and ambiance we all love.
