As I settle in to the new studio I'm starting to find pockets of time to explore ambient space again.

Today I wanted to spend a bit of time breaking in my new Mono Rail pedalboard and a few new additions to the pedal steel rig that are forming the basis of my ambient tone with pedal steel.

First up in the chain, the Origin Effects Cali76 Stacked is essential for that deep, round pedal steel sound. After compression comes EQ by way of the Empress ParaEQ Deluxe, carving out some mids, shaving some highs and adding some low-mid sweetness.

For ambiance, the trio of the Microcosm (also the source of looping), the Chase Bliss Mood Mk II & the Neunaber Audio Illumine bring fluttery, washy ambience to glue the entire sound together.

Finish that with the Dream '65 into the Pinstripe Pedals DISO+ and I think I've found my pedal steel ambient sound.
