Firing up X-Wing vs TIE Fighter on a real Gateway 2000 Windows 98 PC with a glowing CRT monitor still feels like pure late-90s magic. The CD-ROM spin-up sound, giant LucasArts box, cockpit HUD, and TIE Fighters screaming through the speakers at 2AM… nothing else felt quite like it.
