The S.S. Alaska departs Yakutat, Alaska, on a snowy day in the 1930s as onlookers gather to see her off. Several steamships carried the name Alaska; this footage most likely shows the Alaska Steamship Company vessel. Company literature described that ship as a turbo-electric, twin-screw ship measuring about 366 feet long and 49 feet wide.
