The Alaska Railroad, owned by the State of Alaska since 1985, is celebrating its 100th year of operation in 2023. In this program, the United States Department of the Interior presents a 14-minute overview of railroad operations in about 1955, when the railroad was still owned and operated by the federal government. Scenes include Seward, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Mount McKinley (Denali) National Park and the Matanuska Valley, as well as Fur Rendezvous events in Anchorage and the Ice Carnival in Fairbanks. The film was produced by Louis R. Huber (Color/Sound/16mm film).
