An internet simulator set at the turn of the 21st century, Hypnospace Outlaw is one of my favourite games that I played in 2020. It's dripping in 90s nostalgia, and its keen sense of humour is colourful as you're invited into a faithful parody of online tropes from the time.
Most importantly for The Sound Test, the experience is utterly packed with original music. From MIDI-esque sample sets to entirely new genres, like Coolpunk, Hypnospace Outlaw never ceases to amaze with the sheer level of detail in its music. Through this podcast, you'll get more acquainted with The Chowder Man, jam out to some Klyfta and tap your toe to Redstryke - all while learning more about the lengths Jay Tholen went to in order to fill his game with musical life.

The second chapter of a 15-part serial released in 1943.
As Linda Page continues to worry about her Uncle Martins disappearance, Batman & Robin follow a lead surrounding a man with a scar on his wrist. Meanwhile, Linda herself is snatched and Alfred gets meta.
This is Batmans live-action debut, and it was especially important for creating and popularising Alfred Pennyworth as we know him. Before this, he was more of a chubby cockney wideboy. Otherwise, its known for doing away with Batman & Robins vigilantism and casting them as government agents at the height of World War II. As such, the entire Batman serial from 1943 is as xenophobic as youd expect. But, theres more than enough intrigue here for a modern fan whos able to ignore some of the outdated attitudes on display.
Ill be live streaming a new Batman commentary every week until the serials completed. You can join me for them on this bat-channel at 8pm UK, Sundays.

Following the kidnapping of Linda Pages Uncle Martin, Batman and Robin start an investigation into his disappearance. But, taken by the gobsmackingly racist Dr. Daka for a nefarious ploy, will Uncle Martin join forces with his captors?
