The first chapter of a 15-part serial released in 1943.

Following the kidnapping of Linda Page's Uncle Martin, Batman and Robin start an investigation into his disappearance. But, taken by the gobsmackingly racist Dr. Daka for a nefarious ploy, will Uncle Martin join forces with his captors?

This is Batman's live-action debut, and it was especially important for creating and popularising Alfred Pennyworth as we know him. Before this, he was more of a chubby cockney wideboy. Otherwise, it's known for doing away with Batman & Robin's vigilantism and casting them as government agents at the height of World War II. As such, the entire Batman serial from 1943 is as xenophobic as you'd expect. But, there's more than enough intrigue here for a modern fan who's able to ignore some of the outdated attitudes on display.
