After a wonderful day out on friday, July 30 2026 that included a visit to the Natural History Museum of Tilburg, a lunch in the sun, some candy buying and coffee in a Cat Caffee, I felt like playing something that sounds like love. And I can’t think of any music that captures that feeling more beautifully than the organ music of Enrico Pasini (1935–2022). For this recording, I selected five of his most beautiful Cantabiles. Whether it’s sunny or raining where you are, warm or cold, I hope this music fills your heart with warmth, peace, and positivity. The final piece, Cantabile No. 30, is especially special. It is another setting of Pasini’s beloved “For You” (Cantabile No. 2). a melody that has touched many listeners and brings this collection to a truly beautiful close.
My Personal Favorite from this little collection? Difficult. I love them all. But if I had to choose… No. 27! But the most beautiful minute from this collection of 5 is from No. 25 from 08:48 to 08:44. It get goosebumps each time I hear or play it. For me music is not about thinking, analyzing and rationalizing. For me it’s about beauty, love and emotions. The music from Pasini feels so natural to me that I don’t perform it, I become one with it from the first note to the last. I hope it shines thru in this video.

This piece is distinguished from the others in that it came into being as an improvisation during a Mass at Santa Rosalia in Cagliari and was only later put to paper.

Massimo Anella, a former student of Pasini, reconnected with his first teacher after many years and a long internet search. He informed Pasini that his passion for music, far from having been lost, had only grown and that, although pursuing another profession, he enjoyed composing little medleys in his spare time. He sent one of those melodies to Pasini, and Pasini’s elaboration on it joins with the melody in all its simplicity as its logical continuation.

The melody of this Cantabile is drawn from the theme of the Second Organ Sonata and possesses some Gregorian features. In the sonata, it is subjected to a number of variations.

The inspiration for this Cantabile was the Park of Monte Claro in the middle of Cagliari. The composer imagined “the romantic stroll of a love-struck couple through the tranquil park,” staged against the “backdrop,” as it were, of the exquisite vegetation and the small lake at sundown.
