"I can’t believe how good we sound", writes drummer Mike Dudley in the sleevenotes, and indeed for fans of this colossal, neglected group, here’s a find on a par with nectar on Mars. From various sessions and In Concert performances emerge four glorious bursts of adrenalin-dripping Art Rock, too fast and furious but all the more exhilarating for that. On earlier songs like "Heartland" and "Winning", the late, great Adrian Borland was a match for any singer or guitarist on the planet at that moment. By ’85, frustration’s creeping in, but on "Under You" and a scorching "Missiles" he makes it work for him. U2? Joy Division? Bunnymen? They pale in this band’s shadow.

50:23 Stygian Shores [Extended]
Remains is the haunting debut album by Bella Morte, and it immediately establishes the band’s signature blend of Gothic Rock atmosphere and emotionally charged songwriting. Released in the late 1990s, the album feels like a love letter to dark romanticism, drawing clear inspiration from genre pioneers while still maintaining a distinct voice.
From the opening track, Remains envelops the listener in a moody, immersive soundscape driven by shimmering guitars, steady drum machines, and evocative synth layers. The vocals, melancholic yet passionate, carry much of the album’s emotional weight, often exploring themes of love, loss, longing, and mortality. There’s a raw sincerity here that keeps the music from feeling overly stylized or detached.
The production, while modest compared to later releases, adds to the album’s charm, it feels intimate, almost like a hidden gem discovered in the shadows of the gothic underground.
What makes Remains particularly compelling is its authenticity. Rather than chasing trends, Bella Morte leans fully into the aesthetics of Gothic Rock, echoing influences like The Cure and Bauhaus, yet filtering them through a more modern, american perspective.
Lineup:
Andy Deane: vocals
Tony Lechmanski: guitars
Graveheart: bass
Devon Grave Graves: drums, keyboards

Today Necro Stellar can be defined as veterans of the russian Dark scene. Having begun its significant activity in 1993 under the name Breathing, the group was an experimental composition focused exclusively on concert performances. In 2002, the group was renamed Necro Stellar and began to develop a new concept for its activities, focusing completely on studio work. Each of the three full-length albums recorded by the group: 2003s Dlo Kwala Manyan, 2005s Saturating Cemetery and 2006s Pulsing Zero received wide coverage in the russian and foreign press. In 2005 top thirty releases, according to cult biographer and leading critic of the dark scene Mick Mercer, Necro Stellar is the most interesting russian group playing in the style of Electrogothic and Darkwave. Its no coincidence that the album Saturating Cemetery was included by him in the first top ten of the world bands of the schwarze scene, and influential foreign magazines and online publications such as Zillo, Orkus, Gothic Beauty, Elegyiberica, Feindesland, Darklife Magazine, Gothicparadise, Wavepropaganda and many others have given Necro Stellars music extremely positive ratings.
Taking into account the unanimous opinion of critics, we can confidently say that the unique style of performance and characteristic style of this group, which does not fit into the usual framework of modern cliché music, allows us to talk about the work of Necro Stellar as a phenomenon interesting arose on the basis of the domestic schwarze scene. The style of this band, which some journalists conventionally call VooDoo Electro, is actually a difficult-to-describe symbiosis between kraut, old-school electronica and modern electronica, with an emphasis on trance and experimentation.
This is an album dedicated to the memory of those who died during the Second World War.
