The Shanks Problem

After reading the recent One Piece leaks and chapter, I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and talk about the most glazed pirate in One Piece history, Shanks. This guy will appear for 2 seconds on screen and everyone just starts automatically cheering in harmony. Shanks is someone as well I feel that I rarely ever talk about as the most I really mention of him in videos is scaling through other characters like Mihawk or Whitebeard. And after the recent controversy with the character, I'm starting to see people say that he didn’t fight Kaido, Shanks and Stabs lost a 2v1 to Mihawk, and buffoonery of that sort. So today we’ll look over not only his reputation within the universe but see if his resume checks out and if he's actually just… a 1 armed bum who got scarred by Base Blackbeard. Shanks from the beginning of his journey, if i'm being honest was set up for greatness from the start. He was a part of Rogers crew who at the time was pretty much considered to be one of if not just straight up the strongest group around, holding fighters like Roger Rayliegh… and that's really it but of course as we know this is the same crew that eventually found the One Piece. Shanks after Rogers execution would start his own journey, forming his own crew of goats and eventually setting sail. He’d become an emperor during his time at sea, and as we know he’d bet his arm on Luffy or in his words “the next generation”. Shanks knew Luffy was set up for greatness, and it's for that reason he bet his arm. Obviously if he wanted to kill the Sea King he wouldve, but Luffy wouldn't have learned anything in that moment, thus not giving us the courageous head first moron that we all know and love. There's a lot of contention with whether or not Shanks losing an arm is a nerf, but I think the more consistent interpretation is that Shanks did not decline in power. I more so believe this now as his main way of showing off power isn't through raw power or swordsmanship, it's insane levels of haki. I know ima get those haki man comments but really Shanks’ haki makes up for the loss limb, along with his incredible swordsmanship which doesn't require 2 arms. You can say maybe Shanks back then MAYBE got a nerf? But by the time where he performs all of his feats, I think we can confidently say that this isn't hindering him at all. Shanks has been stated to fight on par with the likes of Miahwk in his vivre card so he should at the very worst be right next to him in power. And now we can go ahead and prove the consistency of Shanks being up there by talking about his first feat, that being clashing with Whitebeard. Now this feat I feel is overlooked a lot, as Whitebeard doesn’t use his devil fruit, and you wouldn’t really expect these 2 to go all out here. Whitebeard not using his fruit doesn’t mean he isn’t trying here, Shanks just pulled up on his ship, knocked out the canon fodder and offered his right hand to join him. But the fact that Shanks even did this so casually, and blitzed the entire battle field is pretty ridiculous. There are even databooks implying that Shanks on his way to Marineford was deemed unstoppable, and was the key to stopping the entire war. This would mean the Admirals, Blackbeard, and yes even KAIDO would not be able to stop Shanks when he went to Marineford. And I guess now we can talk about that whole fight with Kaido. The only info we have on this fight is that Kaido tried going to Marineford, Shanks intercepted, which led to Kaido backing off and retreating. I don't know why people think Shanks jumped Kaido and King when in every chance Shanks could've done this, decides to take matters into his own hands. These 2 feats as we know are him flexing on green bull, and one shotting Kidd. The green bull feat speaks for itself, Greenbull sensed Shanks and did NOT want to deal with that. I do believe Green Bull could've probably resisted panicking if he was on guard, but that's all I can really say to defend him. I don't think anyone is gonna argue Greenbull overShanks so we can just move on. Shanks throughout this point in the story has been looked at as an ally, but now that Luffy has finally become an emperor, Shanks has to prove his worth as a pirate now and get to finding the One Piece. Which is why this Shanks and this Shanks seem pretty different, it's because Luffy is no longer looking up to Shanks, but rather he's looking up there with him. HOLLUP IS THIS WRITING FIRE. Haki Man Piece is real. Seriously though to summarize, Shanks is REALLY strong and it's been firmly established within the series that even if there is another Shanks, this should not really correlate with what we’ve seen. This video to most probably doesn’t seem necessary, but as a Mihawk Enthusiast I find the Rat Haired Downplay to be pretty disingenuous.
