This setlist comes from one of the most emotional nights in rock history. The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in April 1992.
Following Freddie’s passing in 1991, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon came together to honour him with a concert that brought together some of the world’s biggest artists. In front of 72,000 fans, the show became a celebration of Freddie’s life, his music, and his impact, while raising funds for what is now the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
This particular setlist was used by John Deacon during the performance and can be seen taped to his speaker cabinet on stage. It has been photo-matched to footage from the concert, including moments during “Las Palabras de Amor” and appearances by artists like Axl Rose.
What makes it even more special are the handwritten annotations. Deacon added musical notes and keys, while Peter Hince, Queen’s longtime roadie, updated the running order in real time as songs were changed. It is a working document from a night where everything carried enormous weight.
