Mom's Birthday Cake Recreation recipe

Hershey's 1934 cookbook:

Hershey's Special Chocolate Cake:
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sour milk (used buttermilk)
3 squares (3 oz or 85g) baking chocolate
1 tsp baking soda
1 tb vinegar (didn't use)

Busy Day Cocoa Icing
(I doubled this)
6 tb boiling water
1/4 butter
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup Hershey's cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar

1 or 2 cans cherry pie filling
