I have wanted to redo this one from four or five years ago for some time, and for reasons close to my heart at present, I felt this was the right time.
The mystical, magical tale of the Salisbury hare and his maiden.....Here in the UK the hare is steeped in much mystery and folk lore in pagan history. It inspires many artists imaginations including myself, and musicians alike... They happen to be my favourite animal and so I always feel blessed when I see one in the fields ..Such gracious, solitary creatures, and not to be confused with rabbits, as many do. The hare and the rabbit are totally different creatures .
. You can see more of my art work at the link below, including many hares:)You will also find a painting of the ancient stones mentioned in the song, which i'm sure many of you know is relating to 'Stone Henge' Art by Ali Hammond

LYRICS
The Salisbury hare, he did a stare upon a pretty maiden
Her smile did light a rainy day and her curls were golden titian
She danced among the heather'd plains and the hare did prance beside her
It was a vision to behold, as the sultry moon did guide them
In summers warm and in winters raw, they'd prance and dance a yonder
To where the ancient stones did stand, no friendship could be fonder
Hare and maiden side by side a roaming every day
Til sadly as the years went by, the hare did pass away
The maiden stopped a dancing , as her prancing friend had gone
But she roamed the plains and mourned for him, and sang her haunting songs
When her earthly time had come, her soul it was still fair
And she danced again upon the plains,
With the prancing Salisbury hare.
