My review of the 2011 Bruce Robinson-directed Hunter S. Thompson adaptation, "The Rum Diary", starring and co-funded by Johnny Depp. Does this highbrow story of a drunk in 1950's Puerto Rico successful in its attempts at philosophizing while interspersing drunken Johnny Depp? Or does this adaptation so drunk of its own spirit that it falls flat on its face to educate and entertain? Watch my review and find out!
Opening Song: "One Man Wrecking Machine" by Guster
*I do not claim any ownership of the song and am merely using it for promotional purposes on behalf of Guster and their music (which I personally love). If any parties would like the video to be taken down and the music removed, please contact me an I will gladly so do. I advise any and all to check out more music by the artist here:

![Debt of Bones Book Review [HD]
My thougths on Terry Goodkinds prequel novella for his Sword of Truth fantasy series, whose first entry (Wizards First Rule) is preceded by Debt of Bones. Is this quickly-finished novella worth your time as a fan of the series? Is it a good way to introduce yourself to the Sword of Truth series? Watch my review and find out!

![Crank: High Voltage Movie Review [HD]
My thoughts on the recently released sequel to the Neveldine/Taylor action film Crank. If you like off-kilter or experimental movies tht dont seem entirely pretentious then this might suit you- though be warned that it IS very odd. For all its silliness and baseness I would say its worth a rent though and if youre a fan of the first movie then it fun to see it on the big screen (preferably with friends...and booze).
Intro Song: Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chains
* I do not own this song but use it respectfully of its creator and claim no value or ownership over it. Check it out. I use only a small sampling of it in my intro, the rest is much better. Also, I feel it important to note I got it off the Lost in Translation soundtrack that I BOUGHT so that should count for something, I think.
CORRECTION: Apparently the literal title for the movie is just Crank: High Voltage, without a number. The number was apparently only added in for the trailer. I doubt anyone else cares but myself but I just had to change it because it bothers me to no end. =) Crank: High Voltage Movie Review [HD]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/k9scXM1uRW4/mqdefault.jpg)

My thoughts on the proliferation of RealD in a post-Avatar world, why theatres suck, and what they could do to improve the movie-going experience. What are your thoughts on all of the above and more? Do you enjoy going to the theatres? What is your opinion on EVERY movie going 3-D? Watch my video to find out what I think about all of these questions and more.

![Inception Movie Review [HD]
My thoughts on Christopher Nolans follow-up to his smash success, The Dark Knight. Is this film, rumored to be another Memento-esque jigsaw puzzle, worth seeing? Does this action thriller maintain both its intellectual and visceral qualities? Moreover, does this film manage to anchor itself in an emotional core? Watch my review and find out!

![Sword of the Stranger Anime Movie Review [HD]
My thoughts on the recently-released (in North America, anyway) anime movie Sword of the Stranger. The Canadian Premiere was at Anime North this year and it was the biggest video at the show. Should you see it though? Is it Samurai bliss or is should you, like a Ronin, wander on by? Watch the review to find out!

Afterthoughts:
In retrospect, I did want to make sure to mention that this is still a good book, I merely wanted to point out some of the flaws it had. It is not as exciting as some of his other works but is both highly informative and worth picking up. Also, the themes (I do realize) are a continuation of the themes in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as this takes place chronologically after that novel. Also, this book contains many of the famous Hunter stories that are often related to describe the person- much silliness and slyness abound- such as the Ibogaine rumor, so this is still a must-read for true fans. Lastly, I wanted to mention the dramatic aspects of the novel I failed to mention in the review, such as a Vietnam-vet march, which is described in tremendously effecting detail by the author. These are, like the digressions and side stories, spread sporadically throughout the book-which also adds to the value of the book.
