A new blend of genres has been popping up recently called "Roguevania" or Roguelite Metroidvania (I've even heard "Metrogue" on occasion). It's essentially a mashup of mashups, but are these games really both a roguelite AND metroidvania at the same time? Is that even possible? I intend to find out, so let's dive deep into the two recent games to don the Roguevania mantle: Dead Cells and A Robot Named Fight!

We head deeper into the tunnel and find a creepy toilet, and then go back to the town to apply our newfound knowledge!
The Witness is the latest game from Jonathan Blow, the creator of Braid. In this game youre tasked with solving various puzzles at all follow the same basic principal: get through the maze. However, as you go through the game, the nature of these mazes changes to create different puzzles that keep you engaged throughout the game.
It is a highly immersive experience with a high-contrast art style full of color. There is no background music, because the developers believe that arbitrary background music would detract from the overall feeling of solitude and immersion. I tend to agree.

Continuing out hunt for the Obelisks, we spend a lot of time clearing out the town.
The Witness is the latest game from Jonathan Blow, the creator of Braid. In this game youre tasked with solving various puzzles at all follow the same basic principal: get through the maze.
