According to Jean Klein the body-mind is only the five senses. Another teaching defines the body as the unconscious depths of the mind. Which one is correct?
Rupert says: ‘When Jean Klein states that the body is just the five senses, he means that the body is a bundle of sense perception – seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. What the second teaching is saying is that the body is how the unconscious layers of the mind appear when viewed from a second-person point of view. Both statements are true, but they’re speaking at slightly different levels.
‘You experience yourself as a mind – a bundle of thinking, feeling, sensing and perceiving. Sense perception renders the reality of the body as a body; it makes the mind look like a body. William Blake unified these perspectives beautifully: “The body is that portion of the soul or mind that is discernible to the five senses”’
