Mass-Takfir of the Sahabah is an undeniable fact and one of the cornerstones of Twelver Shiism. This extreme Takfiri belief is so anti-Quranic and hideous in nature and repelling that some Twelver Shias try to downplay it by claiming that Shia narrations about the apostasy of all Sahabah (except very few) 'have been misunderstood'.

The truth is, that the Takfiri Twelver Shia narrations have been used throughout centuries by the Shia clergy to charge the vast majority of the companions of the Apostle of Allah (عليه الصلاة والسلام) with disbelief and apostasy and subsequently those who follow and revere them (i.e. Ahlul-Sunnah/Sunnis).
