Charles Dickens was more than just an author of English literature and his stories represent that. A man of faith and community, he was very much intrigued by politics, class, and societal issues. A Christmas Carol is a representation of Dickens time in political journalism. The book is a plea for change based around love and community rather than money and politics. That's why the Muppets version of the story is so great. It adheres to the writing Dickens had when he wrote A Christmas Carol and the history of Victorian England.
