Jurassic Park is one of the most well known films in the world. And it is largely responsible for many kids in the 90's gaining a passion for dinosaurs that continues to this day. And I know that many people have picked apart a lot of the dinosaurs in this franchise for being inaccurate, but the truth is as a 90’s kid who obviously owes where he currently is in life at least in some small part to Jurassic Park, I often give the majority of them a pass…
However, there is one that I have never cared for. Jurassic Park’s version of Dilophosaurus has always bugged me. Despite the film being what introduced me to thie animal. Because I remember learning about the real animal as a child and instantly thinking “That’s so much cooler! Why didn’t they make it like the real thing?!?”
So I know this has been talked about to death at this point, but I want to take my turn to talk about the real Dilophosaurus and how it differs from the one in popular media! And if I can enlighten even one person out there who still believes this incredible theropod wasn’t “That spitting lizard from Jurassic Park” Then I’ve done my job!
