The Raven was originally published in January 1845 in several different periodicals, including the New York Evening Mirror and the American Review. This poem was read from "Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe".

Poe, born in January 19, 1809 is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre. He died at the age of 40 on October 7, 1849.
