An area most people overlook when beginning projects, especially items they want to sell, is the importance of that first step. Sourcing quality material and processing it for use. It's all about the grain and your ability to read it. In today's video I walk through the thought process and reasoning for how I create the turning blanks for the items I sell wholesale and through art markets. The example I use is toy tops but the information applies to all spindle turning and the concepts to all craft.

Along the way I offer up tool tips for both beginner and pros.
