Too much was wrong for me to cover everything. If you have any specific questions about topics I missed, drop ‘em in the comments👇.
Key messages I want to leave people with:
Regarding sunscreen, everything has an impact, and the benefits of sunscreen for your health are pretty profound. The best sunscreen for you is the one you enjoy. Whatever that is, keep using what you like without guilt.
Are you looking to reduce the environmental impact of your cosmetics? Realistically, as a consumer, the biggest thing you can do to improve your beauty environmental impact is to consume less. This can translate to buying less products - you really don’t need a lot to take care of your skin, and this less is more approach will also benefit your wallet and skin. Use what you like, because you’ll be more likely to use all of it, rather than buy products you don’t actually like because of their ethos messaging, which will ultimately just mean more waste, and therefore, a greater net impact. Lean into your hero products.
In my honestly held opinion, these guides/reports (w/e we’re calling them) are likely to do more harm than good (both in terms of environmental and health outcomes). Misinformation is a big problem when we’re trying to collectively push to do better, which is more important than ever.
