In Pakistan, less than a quarter of the female population is in the labour force. Girls in many rural areas are also excluded from mainstream STEM opportunities.
With funding from Going Global Partnerships, Cardiff Metropolitan University, in the UK, and National University of Sciences & Technology, in Pakistan, started a partnership to empower women and girls into STEM using the power of robotics.
Reaching nine institutions across Pakistan, the project has engaged hundreds of female students and staff in STEM robotics and AI training, launched a women-led robotics lab, which is transforming teaching, learning and research activities, engaged the wider community through summer schools and workshops for underprivileged girls and established an international mentorship network for aspiring female leaders.
