Today, you may only know of Maybach as Mercedes-Benz’s ultra-luxury brand, but did you know that the man behind the Maybach name was one of the most important people responsible for the existence of the car?
Indeed, he made the precursor to the modern automobile in the 19th century and that too during his time working alongside Gottlieb Daimler, the namesake of the Daimler holding company. This was long before Henry Ford came out with the Model T. His works were so well received that even in France, he was known as the King of Designers and was credited with inspiring the French automotive industry.
