In 1968, Nathaniel Estes laid the groundwork—and the pipework—for his own plumbing business in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. As the business grew, so did his reputation as a pillar in the local Black community. Now 94, Nathaniel still holds a place of honor in the hearts of his children, Eddie Estes and Cathy Lane, who remember the ups, downs, and occasional leaks of life growing up as the plumber’s kids.
