A Lovely Jaunt | THE PERSIANS BY AESCHYLUS @ALovelyJaunt | Uploaded August 2020 | Updated October 2024, 23 hours ago.
The Persians is unique to many of the surviving Greek plays in that, instead of dealing with Greece's mythical and ancient history, usually surrounding the Trojan conflict, Aeschylus writes about the Persian war, a conflict that happened only 8 years prior which he and probably many of the audience members participated it. It is a meditation on the ravages of war and the grief of a nation.
