Jesus’ second parable, which uses the metaphors of salt and light, summarized His teaching on what it means to be His disciple. Jesus never taught the easy believism of hyper-grace heretics, or Calvinist forms of predestination which eliminate human decision. His message was simple and clear. We either choose through conviction to belong to Him with all that we are as disciples, or we still belong to the world and live in darkness. Those who just want a ticket to heaven without discipleship have no real love or knowledge of Christ and no future in His eternal kingdom.
