iThink Biblically | The Parable of the Wheat and The Tares Correctly Understood @iThinkBiblically | Uploaded December 2022 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
Many Christians misunderstand the parables of Jesus and one such parable that they misunderstand is the parable of the wheat and the tares. They think that the field is the church and that we should allow all sorts of unbelievers, false teachers and cult members into the church because if we pluck them out we might just pluck out some of the wheat at the same time. But this is a very poor understanding of the parable. First, its not us that does the plucking, its the angels. Second, the field is not the church, its the world. The idea is that God allows sinners to remain in this world but eventually, at the end of the age, God will send his angels to reap the harvest.
