The Panasonic RX-DX1 was sometimes referred to as a boombox. Launched around the early 2000s it had a digitally tuned radio covering the AM and FM bands and it also had a cassette - it was possible to play back tapes, and also record from the radio or the CD.

The CD was accessed from the top of the set. Like all CDs they use a laser diode and these have a limited lifetime, so they often ceased working after a lot of use.

That said the Panasonic RX-DX1 was a good low end radio, cassette and CD player with a good number of facilities.

The RX-DX1 came with a remote control that allowed the functions to be controlled remotely. and having dual speakers it was able to support stereo sound.
