The Original Dixieland Jass Band, Vol. 1 is one of surprisingly few compilations from the New Orleans, LA group of the same name. This record collects their first and most influential recordings, made between 1917 and 1918. A second volume was not made. These are 78 rips, but rather decent ones. It does however surprise me that they needed to use 78s at all, considering that the masters at the time of issue in 1954 would only have been 36 years old. The audio has been cleaned by me the best I can, in the aim of providing high-quality audio of something so old and unfortunately rarer than it should be. I had to buy a second copy, the first one was unlistenable. Major shoutout to Record Exchange Of Maryland. You all are awesome.
