Remember how Desiigner and Trinidad James were both in Lil Nas X’s position several years ago when Desiigner shook the earth with “Panda” and Trinidad James glowed all the way up with his all gold-selling “All Gold Everything” single? Desiigner got signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label and Trinidad took his self-released mixtape, viral video and his career over to Def Jam for $2 million and was dropped from the label two years later. Oddly enough, Trinidad admitted he only began rapping in November 2011, 13 months before “All Gold Everything.”
On the other hand, there is Post Malone, who exploded with his tune “White Iverson,” to the tune of 5-times platinum. The difference is, Post destroyed the “one hit wonder” curse 18 times over with a dozen and a half gold, platinum, and multi-platinum plaqued tracks.
