THE ODIN STONE of Orkney was a Neolithic standing stone with a hole in it that later became holy to the Vikings who used it for marriages, oath swearing and other rituals. The Promise of Odin aka the Odin stone was used for pagan rituals in Orkney right up until it was destroyed in 1814.
