What are the N-Words meat-eaters use when defending their diet? Nothing brings out the nasty side of human nature like dietary debate. When our way of life feels threatened, our defenses kick in. This video takes a look at the explanations, rationalizations, and justifications for eating animals most often offered by omnivores and empirically catalogued by a team of international scientists into four distinct categories known as “The 4N’s.”

This Bite Size Vegan video: Yes, people actually hate vegans enough that scientists are researching why. And the reasons may not be what you expect! In this video, we break down the findings of some of these studies. And I offer my personal thesis: if you bristle at the mention of veganism or even outright hate vegans, you...may just be a good person.

We explore the social psychology of anti-vegan bias, the stereotyping & stigmatization of vegans, the self-righteousness of vegans, & what all of it has to do with the "meat paradox." Plus, I share a surprising thread I found throughout the research: the polarization between vegans & non-vegans is fueled more by what we have in common than by our differences.

Bite Size Vegan aims to serve as an “entry point” for non-vegans to explore veganism in an approachable, non-threatening environment—distilling down complex concepts into accessible formats while providing cited sources for total transparency & to allow further independent research & evaluation.

By taking on the ample time requirements of researching the myriad of issues inherent within & surrounding veganism, as well as sorting through the ever-growing mountains of information, Emily Moran Barwick aims to increase both the accessibility of veganism for non-vegans, & the efficiency & effectiveness of current vegans’ activism.
