But look at the class designation.
This is Del Worsham's supercharged nitromethane Top Alcohol Funny Car, driven by Jacob Slater, and its appearance at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals represents another major step for one of drag racing's most unusual experiments.
The idea has been developing for more than two years.
Worsham began testing the concept in 2024 as NHRA explored a combination designed to create another pathway between Top Alcohol Funny Car and the professional nitro ranks. Testing continued through 2025 before the combination moved into competition in 2026.
Instead of the traditional alcohol-burning combination, Worsham's Funny Car runs on 85-percent nitromethane with one magneto and a four-disc clutch without clutch management.
The result is a Funny Car unlike anything else in the Top Alcohol pits.
With Slater behind the wheel, the combination has already produced a 5.58-second run at 282 mph.
Now CompetitionPlusTV takes you to Brainerd International Raceway for a look at the car in actual NHRA eliminations, including its first-round appearance at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals.
