History was made on opening day of the NHRA Southern Nationals at South Georgia Motorsports Park as Shawn Langdon blasted to the fastest run in NHRA history at 345.00 mph. The Kalitta Motorsports driver stormed to the provisional No. 1 spot and rewrote the Top Fuel record books in spectacular fashion.

It wasn’t just Langdon making noise. J.R. Todd grabbed the Funny Car provisional pole with the quickest run of the season and a career-best speed. Greg Anderson stayed red-hot in Pro Stock, while Matt Smith became the first rider in the 6.60s this season.
