But the old order changeth, yielding way to new. Enter the likes of Lorenz, Koren, Modell and Chast (all of whom boast singular tomes of their own: nota bene), and, in particular, your correspondent's fave: the irrepressible Booth, whose priceless collections hold hallowed place in the Hoare house humour department.
Headed by "Omnibooth", which is self-explanatory, these include "Think Good Thoughts About a Pussycat," "Rehearsal's Off!" and "Pussycats Need Love, Too". But lest you think he has a one-track mind, he hasn't. While his unkempt cats and flea-ridden dogs remain his trademark, his range remains as broad as his barbs.
These books are not new, but timelessly amusing and readily borrowed. Go forth and cheer thyself! God knows we all could use some at this point...
