This song was written and performed by Darren Foulds and Robin Harbron for our internet-music-group's February Album Writing Month 2015 effort.
This year we were writing songs that each had something to do with one of the Provinces or Territories of Canada. New Brunswick was one of two that didn't get picked up for a song, so I wrote some lyrics, and passed them over to Robin who wrote some music and then we collaborated back and forth to produce this song.
It tells the story of Winifred Blair, the very first Miss Canada (who was from New Brunswick) and the hot air balloon accident she was involved in. I left the ending of the tale open, but in actual fact, Ms Blair did not die as a result of a hot air balloon disaster. Take note of all the NB things: Hot Air Balloons, Winifred Blair, Lobster Roll, Ginger Ale, Campobelllo Island.
