Jesus taught that parables contain the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven in Matthew 13:11.

Matthew 13:31-32 NASB
He (Jesus) presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
In this parable, the mustard seed represents Jesus Christ, the seed that must die to grow. The farmer represents God, the Father. The field represents all mankind. The planting of the seed represents the death and burial of Christ Jesus. The growth of the seed into the largest plant in the field represents Jesus's resurrection. Also, the tree is symbolic of the cross, where Jesus hung. The birds landing on the branches of the tree represent the descension of the Holy Spirit, first upon Jesus (the tree) then upon His branches (His followers)
God is building His field.

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”
