PLEASE READ to understand (dialogue & lyrics below) - Finally! lol (I can hear the echo from some of you here. ;-)) - A great song for them and for spring and a request by leeann proctor that was also on my to-do wanna list. : ) clips follow lyrics, some symbolic, as well as the effects… this was really a challenge to match clips to - because “mummers” are entertainers in history who traveled from village to village (or house to house) usually during celebrations and festivals - like Christmas and Easter (this was supposed to be my Easter vid, but I’m a little behind as you can see, lol) - and this song is written about those type entertainers. So I had to improvise throughout most of vid - (though Claire did do some of that, traveling from village to village to perform and attract attention in her search for Jamie) - but I also included any celebration where there was dancing/singing/performing to fit with lyrics (I’m a stickler for that, you know.) . : ) sparkle clips - Pond5, some GreenScreen.
dialogue (I wasn't sure of the spelling of the Scottish words Jamie used in this first bit of dialogue, since I didn't have subtitles on when I watched or made the clips with them, but if you know, feel free to put it in the comments and I'll add it here. : ))
Jamie - “There’s always a prayer, even if it’s only ___, God help me… The world and each day in it is a gift. Whatever tomorrow brings, I’m grateful to see it… It’s a great comfort to see the sun come up and go down; it gave me hope. To see the light come and go and all the world went about its business. If you were no longer there, then the sun would no longer come up or go down. You are always with me. You are my home now.
Claire - “I can certainly boil a potato.
Jamie - “We shall have a feast.”
Murtagh - “A Sassenach lady dressed as a laddie and singing this bawdy song. That should spread the word…”
Claire - “I’m searching for my husband. And I have to sing that song. Once I have found him, I promise you. I will never set foot on the stage again… Remember, today is a celebration.
Jamie - “Dinna fash. I willna forget…. We’re getting our wish, Sassenach. We’re going to Scotland.”
Jamie - “Come to Me… Shelter me… Heal me…”
Jamie- “Dearest daughter, it seems strange to ask you to pray for the safety of a voyage which will be long completed by the time you learn of it. But I ask, nonetheless… I think God takes no account of time…”
Jamie- “Kiss me, Claire”
Claire - “Always”
Jamie- “God made hope… the stars will not burn out. Nor will we.”

Lyrics to “Mummer’s Dance” performed by Loreena McKennitt
When in the springtime of the year
When the trees are crowned with leaves
When the ash and oak, and the birch and yew
Are dressed in ribbons fair
When owls call the breathless moon
In the blue veil of the night
The shadows of the trees appear
Amidst the lantern light
Chorus:
We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
We bring a garland gay
Who will go down to those shady groves
And summon the shadows there
And tie a ribbon on those sheltering arms
In the springtime of the year
The songs of birds seem to fill the wood
That when the fiddler plays
All their voices can be heard
Long past their woodland days
Chorus
And so they linked their hands and danced
Round in circles and in rows
And so the journey of the night descends
When all the shades are gone
"A garland gay we bring you here
And at your door we stand
It is a sprout well budded out
The work of our Lord's hand"
Chorus x 2

Lyrics to Spirit of Christmas Past performed by Enya
When tears are in your eyes
Its time to look inside
Your heart can find another way
Believe in what I say
Dont throw this time away
Tomorrow will be Christmas Day
Christmas Day...
So let the shadows go
And drift away like snow
Tomorrow will be Christmas Day
Tomorrow will be Christmas Day
Christmas Day...
So dream until the night,
Becomes the morning light
Tomorrow will be Christmas Day
Tomorrow will be Christmas Day
