First Sergeant Leonard Funk has a well-earned reputation for beating the odds, but it seems like this time the five-foot-three paratrooper has finally bitten off more than he can chew.
For his makeshift platoon of clerks and supply personnel with minimal combat experience, ridding the Belgian town of Holzheim of Germans has proven more difficult than expected, coming under heavy fire wherever they turn.
Desperate for more troops, Funk hotfoots it through the frozen streets back to the farmhouse where he had earlier left eighty enemy prisoners held captive, hoping reinforcements will have arrived to relieve his men from guard duty so he can take them with him to make up the numbers.
Approaching the farmhouse, he realizes he’s in luck. A group of soldiers clad in white camouflage capes are already in the yard.
One of the men begins walking toward him. But instead of a friendly handshake, Funk suddenly feels the cold steel of a machine pistol jabbing into his belly…
