Hey there! Alex Raccuglia here, back with The Morning Rant! It's been a minute because, let's just say September through December were a whirlwind of starting things and... well, not quite finishing them yet! But today, I've got something HUGE to share.

Remember how I started producing a short animated movie back in October 2025? Well, yesterday I hit a massive milestone! I created an entire animated short, all thanks to the magic of AI – except, of course, for the story!

It all started back in August when I was the designated bedtime storyteller for my son. He absolutely LOVES the story I call "The Three Adventurers," starring him, a cat, and a dog. So, I got a little inspired and used my phone to create a caricature of him. Then, I thought, "Why not create all the characters?" And I did, using some local AI models and then generating images with NanoBanana. He loved them!

Then, I got to thinking, "What if I could animate these?" I threw an image into FreePik, and what happened next was life-changing. Seeing that image come to life sparked something, and I decided to go all in on creating a full animated short.

It wasn't easy! It started out a bit more like a standard AI narrative, but I pushed to increase the quality, match clips, and create continuity and fluid emotion. The story evolved too, becoming a super-powered adventure movie with action sequences in a wild river, a tornado, and even a burning forest (that wasn't in the original script, but I wanted to create something spectacular that reminded me of being a kid).

This short is about 50% for my son, and 50% for me – because I wanted to make something truly amazing. Get ready for "The Lost Ruby," an adrenaline-fueled journey where secrets threaten to tear everything apart, and three heroes rise to uncover the truth.

The movie is about 13 minutes long, and the end credits? Pure magic with music from Suno. It's been a truly strange and interesting experiment, and I'm incredibly proud of it.

The world premiere is happening on May 8th or 9th (I'll confirm the exact date!). Right now, I'm fine-tuning sound effects and smoothing out those little AI glitches – you know, like trying to herd a baby, a cat, and a dog all at once! It's been a lot of editing, panning, zooming, and flipping to create continuity, but honestly, it's made me happier than I've been doing my day job in a long time.

While this short might not be a massive commercial success, it's already inspiring others. My colleagues and partners saw it and are now thinking about using this tech for Christmas greetings! So, as you can see, things are changing in the world of TV commercial production and content creation. I'm finally diving back into fiction content after a long time, and I'm so excited to share this journey with you.
