My parents got divorced when I was very young. To save their marriage I decided that I would be invisible. I did not want to be a burden to my parents as I felt I was already the cause of their divorce. While this is a false narrative my young self believed this and ended up being the way I carried myself up until just last year. I was so used to being in my friend's shadow, getting talked down upon because it was far better than what I was telling myself. Living a life where I was not the main character. It was not until I heard these words did I have a mindset shift that changed my life…
Life became sweeter, I became the main character, I began traveling the world, bought a car, completely self reliant in Austin Texas at 23. I did the things I never thought I could because of THIS mindset shift.
I still have hardships, but it is something that we must work through together.
