By 986 AD, many Vikings worshipped in churches rather than raiding them. However, that didn’t stop the ‘Danes’ from plundering one of the most important religious centres in the British Isles on the 24th of December. Let’s travel back in time and take a look at Iona, the island that became the birthplace of Celtic Christianity, St Columba, its founder, vicious Vikings, callous Celtic kings, and a rather famous ‘monster fish’.
