Comparing Uma Musume and a human’s running formation.

🎪𝔼𝕡𝕚𝕤𝕠𝕕𝕖 - - -
Animator Yamanaka Misaki : I did a test shoot to recreate Uma Musume’s unique running form. I detached the ponytail from the head and rotated it little by little to express the hair swinging in the air.

Editor Kasubuchi Rio : Since each animation was shot separately, I used After Effects to put the two films together. There weren’t so many frames, so it didn’t take so much time in editing.

Director Shinohara Kenta : I took 28 frames, took about 15 hours to shoot, and 8.5 hours to edit this stop motion. This is a running loop animation. The figure’s joints came off easily, so it was difficult to shoot. I couldn’t recreate Uma Musume running tilting forward, so the moves look kind of stiff. I had my staff make moves rocking back and forth while running, but maybe I should’ve made it more moderate. I added a horse’s running sound effect.
