Join ParanormalXP and @CharmCityParanormal as they investigate the infamous Pennhurst Asylum.
Pennhurst Asylum is located in Spring City, Pennsylvania and is also known as “the Shame of Pennsylvania”. However, Pennhurst was actually called Pennhurst State School and Hospital. Pennhurst was never an Asylum.
Pennhurst opened its doors in 1908 and was originally an institution for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities. However, it quickly became overcrowded as they welcomed in any “societal undesirables”. This included criminals, immigrants and orphaned children.
In the 1960’s, a reporter named Bill Baldini released a five-part expose on Pennhurst after seeing the levels of abuse that went on within the institution’s walls. He titled this expose “Suffer the Little Children”. Residents were bound by their hands and feet, forced to live out their days in adult sized cribs and left to sit in their own human excrement for hours to days.
Over 10,000 patients came through Pennhurst and half of them even died there. Are they still roaming the halls of this old institution?
