In this clip, I had helped clear the monster forces in Central Hyrule, and as you can see by the red X in the minimap, I died before that. I managed to clear the camp beforehand with Captain Hoz during the night and decided to pass time in a fire until morning.

The issue was that the game had already placed the Blood Moon trigger during daytime. Blood Moons are never scripted to trigger until you reach Hyrule Kingdom proper and the game will set the flag for the following night once the Blood Moon timer is ready
