With the release of The Last of Us 2 just days away now, I decided to revisit the original, The Last of Us. Certain elements of the game show its age for sure, but the one thing that has always stuck with me since the first time I played it through back in 2013 was its ending. Let's discuss how through the use of carefully inserted visual details rather than mere exposition, Naughty Dog is able to leave things up to the player; turning such a simple exchange into a hugely complicated web of meaning that floors me to this day.
